Why China?

People ask if we want to produce in the most sustainable ways, why don’t we make bikes in the developed world where regulations already exist? The simple answer is that the net effect would not change the current situation. Ninety percent of the worlds bicycles are made in places where environmental regulations are poor and not enforced, where people are plentiful, cheap and taken advantage of. We feel to make a difference you have to go into the belly of the beast to demonstrate that change in the direction of true sustainability can be positive and profitable.
