Who We Are.
Kind was born out of a VISION to approach how bicycles are currently sourced, distributed, marketed, and sold in a different way.
To accomplish this, Kind’s MISSION is to lead by example, to provide versatile, easy to buy, ride and maintain urban bicycles that are competitively priced and made in the most socially and environmentally conscious ways possible.
People, planet and profits The triple bottom line. Shouldn’t all companies live by this set of principles no matter what product they are selling? We think so. We also think that transparency is the key to ensure that all 3 aspects are being adhered to.
Transparency Let everyone know who we do business with and how we do it.
Simplicity We will stay focused and never offer dozens of bikes with indistinguishable differences for the same purpose. We are a big fan of fewer moving parts and innovative products that reduce maintenance. Our narrow range of products allows us to continually focus on our vision and mission.
Versatility We make our bikes versatile enough so that maybe you can save some scratch by having a bike that can be used for more than one purpose. Plus, having more stuff sucks.
Kind Bikes will be manufactured in the most sustainable ways possible with a commitment to pushing the industry toward ever higher social and environmental standards. We only use suppliers and vendors who have strong commitment to advocacy. We will bring the process full circle by giving back to the people and places where our bikes are produced and purchased.
Easy buying While choice for the consumer is generally a good thing, the wide variety of bike styles with meaningless names is nothing short intimidating for the average buyer and confusing to even experienced cyclists. Kind offers urban bikes in descriptive categories that lets you know exactly what you are looking at. We also make our bikes available through multiple sales channels
Easy riding All of our bikes are easy to ride – what does this mean exactly? Well, in an urban environment you need something that rolls easy – we use larger wheels and narrower tires for decreased rolling resistance and increased maneuverability on the tarmac. For those of you riding in the snow or hitting the trail our versatility comes in handy cause you can run knobbies on any of our bikes except the ‘hood.
Easy ownership Maintenance – who wants to deal with skipping derailleurs and brakes that don’t adjust properly? Not us. So we got rid of derailleurs altogether. We run single speeds or internal hubs in the back. Our disc brakes can be adjusted without tools and our canti’s are easy to adjust and center (you will need tools for this).
